A New Home/Hope

After 5 long 12 hour days, the production of three houses came to an end. Our team of 50 successfully provided housing for the lives of three families. On the “reveal” day, we took each of the families to their first restaurant ever and learned more about them. There was a kind 20 year old family member that worked on the house with us, and I soon learned that he had only a second grade education, no way to prove that he had the potential to become something more. The only place he worked was in the strawberry picking fields in the Spring. This house, I’m hoping, will give him stability -- enough stability to go out and finish his education and build himself up through his work. We’re visiting all the families we’ve built for next year and I can only hope that he takes the initiative to become something of himself.
